The Russian authorities have positively assessed the fact that China is developing a peace plan for Ukraine and intends to study its details, but so far they do not see the possibility of a peaceful settlement, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.

According to RBC, Peskov noted that “any attempts to develop a plan that will contribute to the transfer of the conflict to a peaceful course deserve attention.” According to him, the Kremlin “with great attention” reacted to the plan of “Chinese friends”, and the details of the plan “have yet to be carefully analyzed, taking into account the interests of various parties.” According to the Kremlin spokesman, it will be “a very long, intense process.”

At the same time, Peskov added that at present Moscow sees no prospects for a peaceful settlement. “So far, the SVO continues, and we are moving towards achieving the goals that have been set,” he added.

Recall that earlier the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement with Beijing’s position on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. The document consists of 12 points, among which is the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and the resumption of direct dialogue between Moscow and Kiev. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he considers China’s proposals for a settlement “not a plan of action, but Beijing’s reflections on this topic.” In turn, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, also said that he did not consider China’s proposals on Ukraine to be a peace plan. In his opinion, it is rather a positional document.
