Iran has developed a cruise missile with a range of 1650 km. This was reported by Reuters with reference to the commander of the Aerospace Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, General Amir Ali Hajizade.
According to him, the new development “with a flight range of 1650 km has replenished the missile arsenal of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
According to Reuters, Tehran expanded its missile program, despite US objections and the concern of several European countries. According to Iranian authorities, the program is purely defensive and deterrent, the agency adds.
According to IRNA, Hajizade stressed that one of the goals of Iran’s military developments is to contain the United States. According to him, if the republic is not “strong”, then it will be drawn into conflicts.
“From the very beginning in the Air Force, we aimed to make the capabilities and the war machine of the Americans ineffective,” he said. In particular, now Iranian missiles can hit American ships within a radius of 2,000 km, he specified.
