In a number of Russian regions, frosts of 7-11 degrees below the climatic norm are expected in the coming days. Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, told TASS about this.
It is noted that the temperature below the climatic norm by 7 degrees or more in winter is considered a dangerous meteorological phenomenon, since it creates difficulties for power engineers and other city services. In addition, it can negatively affect a person’s well-being.
“Anomalies below 7 degrees are always dangerous,” Vilfand said.
According to him, on February 22-23 in Komi, Leningrad, Pskov, Murmansk, Vologda, Novgorod regions, as well as in Karelia, the temperature will be below the norm by 7-11 degrees and may drop to 20-25 degrees below zero, and in Komi it can reach minus 27 degrees. In the Central Federal District, abnormally cold weather will be everywhere in the same period – the temperature is below the norm by 7-10 degrees.
In the Moscow region and some other areas, the temperature can reach 28 degrees below zero.
Very cold weather will continue in the south of Russia – in the region of minus 17-20 degrees.
