China has successfully overcome the pandemic period, and is ready to comprehensively resume contacts with Europe and the whole world. According to TASS, this was stated by the head of the office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, member of the Politburo Wang Yi during a meeting in Munich with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
“China has successfully emerged from the pandemic period and is ready to comprehensively resume contacts with Europe and the whole world,” he said in a message published on Sunday by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
As Wang Yi pointed out, the parties can actively prepare for new meetings between the leaders of China and the EU, make full use of high-level dialogue mechanisms in various fields, so as to restore pre-pandemic level cooperation as soon as possible.
As noted in the message of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, during the meeting the parties also discussed the situation in Ukraine. “Speaking of the crisis in Ukraine, Wang Yi stressed that the Chinese side is firmly committed to promoting peace and negotiations, is ready to strengthen cooperation with the European side, and steadily seek a political settlement,” the document says.
As noted, Wang Yi also stressed that in the face of chaos and changes in the world, China and the EU “should strengthen cooperation to promote stability in the world.”
