In China, a single father killed his 13-year-old son with a samurai sword due to poor performance in physical education, writes the South China Morning Post, citing court records.
According to the publication, the incident occurred after a man named Yang Junming took part in an online meeting with his son’s teacher. The father was told about the poor performance and was told that the child received only 18 points in physical education out of a hundred in physical education. After that, Yang Junming accused his son of being “too lazy and not studying hard enough.” As he himself stated in court, he “came into such a rage that he took a katana and stepped forward to stab him.”
It was found that the man bought the katana from an online store because he was interested in collecting samurai blades. In addition, forensic experts found other, older injuries on the deceased teenager, indicating that he had been beaten several times before his death.
As a result, the man was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
