Three alleged thieves were arrested on the morning of this Tuesday, February 14, in front of the municipal Civil Registry, located in the Martha de Roldós citadel, in the north of Guayaquil.
The National Police reported that two of the detainees intimidated the drivers who stopped for the red traffic light with a firearm.
They tore off cell phones and other belongings, said Major Diego Naranjo, head of the More Security plan.
They capture almost a ton of drugs that intended to leave Guayaquil to the Netherlands
Around 09:00, motorized police personnel noticed the actions of the antisocials, who, upon seeing the uniformed men, went to a vehicle, whose driver was waiting for them.
The car did not have the rear license plate.
The two alleged thieves got into the vehicle and began the pursuit that had a long way to go due to the traffic that was registered in the sector at that time.
Major Naranjo pointed out that one of the subjects pointed at the police officers from the back of the car, for which reason the agents had to also use their endowment weapon to neutralize the threat.
“We believe that we have enough elements for Germán Cáceres and Alfonso C. to be tried,” says the defense of María Belén Bernal
As a result of that, one of the alleged thieves was shot in the back, at the height of the thorax. He has an entrance hole, not an exit hole, which does not compromise vital organs, according to a police report.
That subject was taken to a health home, where he remains with police guard. The other two individuals were transferred to the Cuartel Modelo, for legal investigations.
None of those apprehended have a criminal record and the car in which they were transported is not reported as stolen.
As evidence, the Police exhibited a pistol and clothes with which the antisocials presumably changed to avoid being recognized. (YO)
