The homicide occurred when the uniformed man was mobilizing on his motorcycle through one of the streets that connect the Tiwintza and 50 Casas neighborhoods, in the south of the city, at around 10:00 p.m.

Apparently, the suspects blocked the path of the gendarme and destabilized it. Immediately afterwards they appropriated the motorcycle and with the same firearm they would have killed him.

Relatives of the deceased said that he was returning to his home, located a few blocks from where he died. The motorcycle was recovered by a sports field and raids were carried out without the capture of the suspects.

The homicide of the uniformed man happened at the place where unknown persons abandoned two heads in covers, of the decapitated ones who were hung on the Aire Libre pedestrian bridge, in Esmeraldas, in November 2022.
