In Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan, schoolchildren and teachers detained a ninth grader armed with a kitchen knife and an ax who wounded three students at school No. 4. Sputnik Kazakhstan reports this with reference to the first head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Marat Kozhaev.
“Now two children are in the hospital, their condition has stabilized, one was sent home after an examination. Now a criminal case has been initiated,” the deputy minister added.
According to him, a criminal case was initiated under Art. 24 h.3, Art. 99 part 2 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan (attempted murder of two or more persons), the suspect is in the isolation ward.
The incident happened on February 13 before school started. Two boys and a girl were injured – students of the ninth and tenth grades. The head of the regional education department, Nazir Zhashibekov, said that children were not searched at the entrance to the school, the attacker went into the toilet and left with a knife and an axe.
According to preliminary data, he is on a psychiatric register, the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office reported. Since October last year, the teenager has been hospitalized at the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Mental Health in Almaty. According to Kozhaev, he was discharged a month later with a recommendation to “continue his studies in the general education program.”
