The head of SpaceX, which owns the Starlink satellite Internet network, Elon Musk said he would not allow the conflict in Ukraine to escalate due to the use of Starlink terminals.
As Musk wrote on his social media page, the satellite network is used on the front lines, where there are no other options for connecting to the Internet, but the company intends to prevent “an escalation of the conflict that could lead to a third world war” due to its use.
The head of SpaceX also emphasized that Starlink terminals should not be used for military purposes.
Thus, Musk reacted to the message of one of the users of the social network, who called on the head of SpaceX to restore the full operation of Starlink in Ukraine.
Recall, earlier it was reported that in early February, SpaceX limited the ability to use its Starlink network to control drones. “We know that the military uses them for communication, and this is normal. <…> But it was never our intention that they use it for offensive purposes, ”said company president Gwynne Shotwell in this regard.
