The new package of EU sanctions, introduced on the anniversary of the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, plans to include four Russian banks, including Alfa Bank, writes Politico, citing sources among EU officials and diplomats.
In addition, about 130 individuals and organizations may be blacklisted. According to the publication, among them are Russian military leaders, journalists “working for Russian state media and propaganda,” as well as companies and individuals in other countries who are associated with the military conflict in Ukraine or with the Wagner PMC. The publication notes that we are talking about individuals and organizations from Iran and Mali.
Also, Brussels may ban the export of trucks and construction equipment from the EU to Russia, and in the opposite direction, ban the import of rubber and bitumen from Russia to European countries. It is not yet known whether Russian diamond exports will be banned.
The fact that “propagandists” will fall into the new package of sanctions against Russia was previously reported by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. Also, according to her, the tenth package of EU sanctions against Russia will include a restriction on the export of goods worth more than 10 billion euros and restrictions on the export to Russia of technologies used in the military-industrial complex.
