The rush or carelessness of the passengers at the Mariscal Sucre airport in Tababela, in the northeast of Quito, filled a warehouse with forgotten objects.

These will be auctioned on February 15, after serving more than a year without being claimed by their owners.
Among the objects are jewelry, cell phones, suitcases with all their contents, chargers, cameras, even a Copa Libertadores 2022 medal. Bidders will also find clothing, travel pillows, among other products forgotten by passengers.
From the Metropolitan Public Company of Airport Services (Epmsa) they indicated that it is not an auction of the objects seized from the passengers, but only the forgotten.
It was also ruled out that there are products retained in customs, such as televisions or other types of elements that did not achieve their legal entry into the country.
How to participate in the auction?
The objects will be sold in lots, which will be exhibited on the second floor of the Quito Airport Center. Interested persons must attend from 08:00 to 09:30 for registration, which will be free of charge. The auction will begin at 10:00 a.m.

According to the municipal institution in charge of supervising airport operations, during 2022 they returned 4,508 forgotten objects to 693 passengers. In 2021, 780 objects were delivered.
What to do when I forget an object at the airport?
Katya Bastidas, manager of Epmsa, pointed out that users have two options to recover their forgotten objects:
The first is to enter the Epmsa website and verify if the company uploads its object, at which time you can fill out a form and send it. With that, the process will begin to identify and communicate to the passenger when they can come to pick up.
Spanish company will intervene in the Quito airport business line, according to the Superintendency
The second option is to go to the airport security management office, located in front of the security filters. In that place they will verify the object, a comparison of it will be carried out and the person’s data must be entered, after signing a consent you can take your object. (YO)
