The National Customs Service of Ecuador has a list of personal effects that can enter the country without paying taxes.
When a traveler arrives in Ecuador by air, he can enter various items in his luggage, but he must bear in mind that there is a list that details what merchandise, and in what quantities, can enter without paying taxes.
The National Customs Service of Ecuador indicates on its official website that personal effects can be freely entered, which are “those that accompany the passenger or the family group individually considered, provided that due to their quantity or value they cannot be considered commercial, and that they are exempt from paying taxes on foreign trade, tariff surcharges and the presentation of import authorizations, permits, licenses and records ”.
The entity indicates that an asset or set of assets that are not on the list will also be considered as personal effects, but that does not have volume, quantity or size restrictions and whose value does not exceed $ 500.
