Guaranda opened its carnival party with the entrance of Taita and the election of its queen

Guaranda is one of the carnival destinations in Ecuador. Every year, hundreds of Ecuadorians choose that city to enjoy its various activities.

The party began to heat up with the election of the queen and the entrance of the Taita Carnival, two activities that traditionally mark the start of the festivity.

Doménica Salazar was elected queen of Guaranda this Friday night, in an evening in which several delegates competed. The election took place in the municipal coliseum.

This Saturday morning, in the streets of Guaranda, the entrance of the Taita Carnival was made, with several comparsas and the presence of the queen-elect.

A musical band started the parade. To the beat of the music, a young woman dressed in the costume of a condor commanded the entrance of the queen and the Taita.

During the journey, roses were distributed to the attendees who were stationed on the sidewalks of the center.

Hundreds gathered early in the morning along Calle 7 de Mayo.

Groups of seniors, dressed in costumes from yesteryear, joined the parade that took place on a sunny morning. A delegation of retirees from the Daule canton (Guayas) traveled to participate in the parade.

Other dance and dance groups showed their skills in the streets. Some attendees were encouraged to go out dancing.

On the way there was live music, as some retiree clubs and college associations presented artistic numbers.

Others performed performances with music that marked a few decades, such as the eighties and nineties.

Some participants even staged television programs. For example, there was a representation of the disappeared Giant Saturday, with impersonators of Don Francisco, the Cuatro and the Jackal of the Trumpet.

The Taita parade was resumed after almost two years, because, due to the pandemic, the activities were disrupted. (YO)
