Two men were arrested on the night of this Friday, February 10, after a police pursuit for an attempted kidnapping of the director of the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo hospital, Francisco Pérez.
The incident occurred at 7:30 p.m. yesterday when the official from the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS) was about to arrive at his home in Los Ceibos, north of Guayaquil.

There he was intercepted by two subjects who threatened him with a firearm to presumably kidnap him.
Uniformed men indicated that the antisocials tried to open the car door and under insults and threats with a weapon they wanted to force him out of the vehicle, but the doctor managed to flee the site and ask for help from the National Police, who organized an operation.
After a chase, police officers managed to capture the subjects near the Los Ceibos Community Police Unit (UPC).
Christian Meléndez, head of the Los Ceibos District, explained that the two men, aged 23 and 19, were taken to the Flagrancy Unit of the Model Barracks to start the process with the respective complaint of the affected person.
Last Thursday, a protest was registered outside the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo hospital for the alleged non-payment of workers from a cleaning company that provided service for that IESS third-level hospital.
For the fifth time, there is no pre-trial hearing against those involved in the murder of Gerardo Delgado
Among the protesters were men who demanded to go to the director.
The Teodoro Maldonado hospital reported that all legal documentation has been required from that company to follow the process, but that there was no compliance.
Those close to the official believe that this case could be part of the reprisals for this situation. (YO)
