The leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, during a photo shoot with participants in a large-scale parade on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People’s Army, stated the need to strengthen the country’s military power at an accelerated pace. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea.
At an event on Thursday, Kim Jong-un said that “to suppress by force the increasingly brutal imperialist tyranny” requires the army to “become stronger at an incomparably faster rate than in past history.”
The North Korean leader, according to the agency, stressed that the prosperity of the North depends on a “strong army”, and noted that “a person can demonstrate honor only when he is strong.”
Kim Jong-un also said that this parade “demonstrated more clearly the prestige and greatness, high honor and bright future of our state.”
Since Kim Jong-un came to power, 13 military parades have taken place in the DPRK. The previous one was held in April 2022 to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army.
