Two people died and one more was injured after the squadron in which they were traveling was allegedly hit by a car, which fled after the incident, according to witnesses.
The accident occurred at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the community of El Cady, located at kilometer 8 of the Portoviejo-Santa Ana highway.
Three people were on the squad: Álex Cevallos with his wife Michelle Moreira Macías, and their son Gael, one year and seven months old.

After the collision, the bodies of the three people who were moving in the squad were lying on the road. The injured were taken to the Portoviejo Specialties Hospital, where the death of her mother and her son was confirmed.
The relatives regretted the incident that occurred a few meters from the Cevallos-Moreira family arriving at their home, since they lived in the El Cady community, and even more questioned the lack of lighting on that state highway.

Nery Macías, a taxi driver in Portoviejo, mourned the loss of the daughter and grandson of a taxi driver, adding that Cevallos was in stable condition, but will remain in the hospital until he recovers.
“The road where the accident occurred lacks lighting, horizontal and vertical signage that is visible. Tonight (Wednesday), two lives were lost, very unfortunate,” said Macías. (YO)
