Sixto Darwin MG, suspected of killing his ex-partner with a machete in Misahuallí, Napo province, is in pretrial detention.
The subject ended the life of the mother of his two daughters on Friday, February 3.
The man fled the crime scene after committing the femicide at the door of the woman’s home. He killed her with two machete blows to the head.

According to the version of a sister of the victim, Eulalia separated from Sixto a month ago. On the day of the events, one of the girls required medical attention, so the perpetrator accompanied the woman to the health center. However, upon returning to her home, he attacked her with his machete.
Two girls of 6 and 2 years old are orphaned by this fact. The Prosecutor’s Office provided information to officials from the Ministry of Women and Human Rights to coordinate timely care for the girls who were orphaned, therefore vulnerable.

The Prosecutor’s Office took the case before a Napo Criminal Guarantees judge to initiate criminal proceedings against him.
Kléber Egas Criollo, prosecutor of Napo, presented an autopsy report and medical-legal examination of the defendant, versions of the victim’s sisters, the defendant’s cousin -who lives next to the scene-, the Dinased staff and Police officers who came to the scene.
The tax investigation of this case will remain open for thirty days.
“Acts of violence against women and the family nucleus must be reported. This type of violence that leads to these unfortunate results must not be tolerated,” added the Napo Provincial Prosecutor, Diego Segovia.
Sixto Darwin MG could face a custodial sentence of between 22 and 26 years for this crime. (YO)
