An alleged fraudster charged $2,000 for applicants to join the National Police

Six applicants for the National Police, with their relatives, arrived at the Community Police Unit (UPC) of the Centro Histórico circuit, in the center of Quito, to report the fraud of a subject who charged $2,000 to enter the institution .

At 10:30 a.m. this Tuesday, February 7, the agents apprehended the alleged fraudster at the corner of Pichincha and Sucre streets.

Given the complaint of the people, and the identification of the whereabouts of the alleged fraudster, they began an operation to which they went immediately, as they feared that he would move from the place and that they would not know his whereabouts later.

The detained subject would have identified himself as a Marine of the Naval Force. According to the Police, it was a member of said force who was discharged in 2019 and who posed as an active server. In his possession was found a credential in which he has the rank of second corporal.

This newspaper consulted the State Comptroller General (CGE) and the subject registered asset declarations in the years 2018 and 2020. On this site it was learned that he entered the Armed Forces in December 2014.
