There were 279,244 selected as members of the vote-receiving boards (MJRV) that participated in the sectional elections on February 5, 2023. They integrated 40,714 boards nationwide.
Their work began at 06:30 in the electoral precincts and ended after 23:00; some even later. For this day, the National Electoral Council (CNE) will pay $40 to each MJRV.

This value does not yet have an exact cancellation date, according to Enrique Pita, vice president of the electoral body. “Unfortunately, this is subordinated to concluding the processes. So what is the activity to get to that? All the electoral rolls, the installation and conclusion minutes have to be scanned, and we are already scanning them (…). That is the information that is accumulated in the CNE and determines who did show up to work and who signed the minutes, in order to credit them with the resources via bank”, said Pita.
In addition, he recalled that those who did not show up or were absent and did not sign the minutes will be fined.
The economic sanction for those who were selected as members and not on the voting board is 15% of base salary: $67.50.
If you are a member of the board receiving the vote and leave the polling station, after settling in, you will be exposed to a fine of up to $9,000
But if any of the members, after setting up the board, left the site, a fine is generated that can go from eleven to twenty unified basic salaries, that is, from $4,950 to $9,000.
Several weeks ago, during the training for the MJRVs, it was indicated that the $40 would be canceled in March. In fact, the Counselor José Cabrera mentioned the same. “The payment will be made on the site on election day or through the corresponding bank starting in March, the month in which citizens must bring their citizenship card for the respective procedure,” he said.
