Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the fact of a gas explosion in a residential building in the Tula region

In the Tula region, a criminal case was opened on the fact of a gas explosion in a residential building in Efremov. This is reported by TASS with reference to the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, put the investigation into the circumstances of the collapse of a part of a residential building in the Tula region under control, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation told reporters.

“The course and results of the investigation have been put under control in the central office of the department,” the report says. The case was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Provision of services that do not meet security requirements”).

“Investigators and forensic specialists from the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Tula region are working at the scene. Urgent investigative actions are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident, a complex of necessary forensic examinations is being appointed, eyewitnesses are being interrogated,» the Investigative Committee noted.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, an explosion of a gas-air mixture occurred on Khimikov Street at about 16:46 Moscow time, which led to the collapse of one entrance of a gasified residential building, as a result of which four people died. At the same time, emergency services previously reported that five people had died. The rubble is being cleared at the scene, 42 people and 12 pieces of equipment are involved in it.
