Ukraine to send humanitarian aid to Turkey after earthquake

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree on the provision of humanitarian assistance to Turkey after the devastating earthquake.

The text of the decree was published on the President’s website. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine should ensure the provision of humanitarian assistance to Turkey.

“In order to help overcome the consequences of the emergency situation that has developed in the Republic of Turkey as a result of the earthquake, in accordance with Article 10 of the Law of Ukraine “On Humanitarian Aid”, I decide to provide humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Turkey,” the text of the decree says.

Recall, on the eve of two earthquakes in the south-east of Turkey – at 4:17 local time, the magnitude was 7.7 points, at 13:24 – 7.6 points. According to the latest data, 3,381 people died, 20,400 were injured, and at least 5,775 buildings collapsed.

The earthquakes were the largest in nearly a hundred years since 1939, Turkish President Tayyip Recep Tayyip Erdogan said. Then the magnitude reached 7.9 points, and the death toll exceeded 33 thousand people.
