Minister of Government, regarding the departure of the Tiguerones leader in pre-release: ‘It seems to me that the judges should also support the fight against organized crime’

The State official considered that the analysis of the prison rights to comply with Salazar’s sentence was carried out in an “expeditious” manner.

The Minister of Government, Alexandra Vela, referred to the pre-release release of Luis Salazar, one of those considered leaders of the Los Tiguerones gang, who was being held in the Litoral Penitentiary in Guayaquil.

The State official considered that the analysis of the prison rights to comply with Salazar’s sentence was carried out “expeditiously” and, subsequently, he was released by order of a judge.

It seems to me that the judges should also support the fight against organized crime and not proceed so expeditiously to release a gang leader and put him back on the streets of the city”Said Vela in Ecuavisa.

The minister asked that the decisions of the judicial system take into account the level of danger represented by the presence on the streets of an inmate. “It is very difficult for the Police to determine the criminal acts, take, arrest the people who are involved in these processes and take them to jail,” he said.

Salazar is listed as one of the leaders of Los Tiguerones, one of the gangs that have staged confrontations in the country’s prisons, including the Penitentiary.

Leader of Los Tiguerones, Álex Salazar, is already out of prison

In that prison there are already more than 200 deaths in the riots between gangs so far this year. More similar episodes have been reported in recent days, which has left at least two people dead between last Sunday and Monday.

Regarding the incidents recorded last Wednesday in the Penitentiary, Vela said that so far there are no reports of deaths. “We have to wait for the final report,” he said. Yesterday afternoon, police personnel announced that there was an injured person.

In an event, Bolívar Garzón, director of the SNAI, explained that Salazar’s request for pre-freedom and finishing the rest of his sentence in a semi-open regime followed what the law requires, and that once the judge in charge of the case issued the pre-release ballot, the SNAI complied with the court order.

Judge Oswaldo Dávila, from the Guayaquil Criminal Guarantees Unit, issued the ruling, according to the release ticket also posted on social media.

The local leader of Los Tiguerones has already served 60% of his sentence in prison. He had been sentenced for the crime of receiving, after not being able to justify belongings found in his possession, it was mentioned.

In principle, he had to remain in prison for four months, but then 32 more months were added to his sentence, according to court records. In his arrest, the Police detained him after a report of stolen parts of a car. (I)
