Program aims to develop professional skills in teachers in the country.
Manta, MANABÍ
Teachers of 66 educational entities from three provinces of Ecuador They culminated a teaching process under the initiative called Learning Communities with scientific bases, which seeks to improve education and coexistence in the classrooms.
This program is a virtual teaching system that is based on training and learning for understanding, transformation, transcendence and that promotes the improvement of educational practices in the classroom.
Promoted by the Faro group, with the support of the Ministry of Education, University of Barcelona, its CREA Institute, and the support of other organizations, the plan aims to develop professional skills in teachers in the country.
Paola Jácome, coordinator and director of education for the Faro group, said that this initiative began first for the provinces of Pichincha and Manabí. Cañar also has the program. The implementation began after the approach with the Ministry of Education, a state portfolio that requested that this learning system be prioritized, aimed at teachers who teach classes in rural or marginal urban areas.
Ecuadorians residing in six countries will be able to complete their studies, according to the Ministry of Education
In the case of Pichincha, the work was carried out with teachers who taught classes in schools with different vulnerability factors, where there were many conflicts, while in Manabi the work was developed in Manta, Montecristi and Jaramijó.
There are seven principles on which this teacher training proposal is based. It includes egalitarian dialogue, cultural intelligence, transformation, creation of meaning, solidarity, instrumental dimension and equality of differences. These are reinforced through virtual classes by 18 tutors from the University of Barcelona, Spain.
They were involved in the program 377 teachers from the selected provinces.
“With this model we make a commitment with educational institutions to generate a transformation process, we invite them (educational authorities and teachers) to dream in what type of schools they want to have at two and three years, the infrastructure, the good treatment, coexistence ”, Jácome stressed.
The aim of this program is to have a continuous training program, with the aim of professionalizing actors from the educational community in the learning community model.
Among the first results that can be observed in some educational establishments, whose teachers are part of this process of learning communities, is the fact that students per year read and understand at least three universal literary works.
In the case of the establishments of Manabi, four of the entities whose teachers participate in this process in 2020 were included among the fifteen best educational establishments in zone 4 of the Ministry of Education, according to Jácome.
There is also a follow-up on the path taken by the graduates of the schools, what are the levels of connection with the community, what happens with the process of educational entities whose teachers are part of this process.
“We receive quarterly reports from the schools, some indicators that we ask them to provide us, to see the academic development,” said Jácome.
Last Tuesday, the teachers who were part of this process in the province of Pichincha They obtained their certifications, while this Thursday in Manta the graduation ceremony of those who were certified in this educational model will be held. (I)
