66-year-old man died of a heart attack while waiting to vote at the Guayaquil campus

A 66-year-old elderly man died this Sunday morning while waiting his turn to vote inside a classroom at the Adolfo H. Simmonds school, in the suburb of Guayaquil.

National Police personnel went to the site due to the ECU911 alert, as a person was reported to have fainted; However, upon reviewing it, it was confirmed that she no longer had vital signs, according to the paramedics of the Guayaquil Fire Department.

Carlos Peñafiel, police chief of the Portete District, indicated that the deceased was identified as Carlos Alfredo Cruz Ramírez.

The person had arrived with the rest of his family to vote at that educational center and unfortunately had a heart attack.

Citizens who turned out to vote were alarmed by the situation, and many were saddened to see the despair of the family.

Staff of the National Electoral Council (CNE) momentarily closed the classroom where the voter died for the respective expertise.

At the site, the family coordinated the mortuary procedures with the funeral home after the confirmation of the natural death of the man.

On the site there were personnel from the Portete District organizing the citizens, since many were upset due to the delay of more than 40 minutes in the process for this event.

“I have to go to work and we are just going to enter that classroom again. They tell us they’re cleaning, and that’s fine; but unfortunately many people are late. They would have located us in another place to expedite”, commented Samantha Zambrano, a resident of the suburb.
