Church worker arrested in St. Petersburg on charges of murdering a priest’s wife

The Kuibyshevsky District Court of St. Petersburg arrested 27-year-old Stanislav Ledenev for two months. The man is accused of murdering the clergyman’s wife, follows from the message of the joint press service of the courts of St. Petersburg.

Ledenev worked and lived in the temple, the rector of which is the injured priest.

According to investigators, the murder took place the day before. A man stabbed a 35-year-old woman twice with a knife in the entrance of one of the houses on Kolomenskaya Street, the victim died on the spot.

The press service clarified that Ledenev was interrogated as an accused and gave confessions, ”added the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for St. Petersburg.

According to Fontanka, the defendant worked as an assistant rector at the Church of the Holy Trinity. According to journalists, the man admitted to the investigation that he periodically took part of the money from donations to the church, and the priest’s wife, suspecting theft, began to check the internal video surveillance cameras.

According to Ledenev, this was one of the reasons for the murder he committed.
