In St. Petersburg, in the fourth week of the year, the incidence of influenza and SARS increased by 14.1% compared to the previous week. It is reported by RBC with reference to the city department of Rospotrebnadzor.

“According to the results of virological monitoring, active circulation of non-influenza respiratory viruses continues, among the findings, the main shares were seasonal coronaviruses, RS-virus, rhinoviruses. Among the influenza viruses, the number of laboratory confirmation of the B virus is increasing, and diseases caused by the influenza A / H1N1 / 09 virus are also being recorded, ”the ministry said in a statement.

The incidence of coronavirus has been increasing weekly since the beginning of the year. So, for the week from January 23 to January 29, 5004 cases of COVID-19 were registered in St. Petersburg; for the week from January 16 to January 22 – 4801 cases; from January 9 to 15 – 3136 cases. At the same time, fewer and fewer St. Petersburg residents are admitted to hospitals diagnosed with covid. In the fourth week of the year, the number of hospitalizations was 632, in the third – 661, in the second – 819.

It should be noted that at the beginning of the year, the Office of Rospotrebnadzor in St. Petersburg recorded a rapid drop in the incidence of influenza, SARS and COVID-19 compared to the end of December 2022. In the department, this was partly due to the fact that on holidays the townspeople were less likely to seek medical help.
