February is the month in which you can start preparing seedlings. Plant seeds begin to be planted at the beginning, middle or end of the month – depending on the temperature conditions of the region of residence: in the middle lane, seedlings are transferred to open ground in mid-late spring, in the south – earlier. The latter also applies to planting seedlings in greenhouses or greenhouses, where the earth warms up earlier.

So, at the end of February, seeds of late-ripening tomato varieties with a growing season of 100 days can be planted. In the middle lane, the resulting seedlings can be transplanted into greenhouses in early May, and in the south at this time, young plants can also be planted in open ground. Previously, the seeds should be disinfected – for example, wrapped for 20 minutes in gauze soaked in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate.

In the third decade of the month, you can start sowing bell pepper seeds. However, given that they will germinate for about 10 days, to speed up the process, it is worth pre-soaking them before swelling in a growth stimulator solution.

In the last week of the month, the time comes for sowing eggplant seeds. Earlier sowing will lead to overgrowth of the shoots – they will be too elongated and weak. Plants should be transplanted into greenhouses no later than mid-May.

In mid-February, lovers of early harvests of onions can take care of planting them on seedlings. Landing in the ground of low-life plants is allowed when the night temperature reaches plus 10 degrees. Also at this time, you can plant leeks, which have a long growing season.

February is also suitable for planting celery. Its growing season is about two months, and it will take about three weeks for the first shoots to appear. To make the seeds sprout faster, you can put them in hot water for half an hour, and then sprinkle them with a growth stimulator.
