White House spokeswoman Kara Abercrombie said that there are no barriers to Russian experts traveling to the United States to inspect facilities under the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. According to her, Kommersant writes, the American side has done everything possible to remove any potential obstacles for Russians to travel to the United States.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the US refusal to inspect their facilities under the START-3 treaty. Then Moscow accused the American side of promoting conditions that create unilateral advantages for the United States.

The other day, The Wall Street Journal wrote that Washington believes that Moscow violated the START Treaty because of the “blocking” of American inspections. The State Department’s finding that Russia is “not in compliance” with the agreement marks the first time that a US side has accused a Russian side of violating a treaty that went into effect in 2011.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that it is important for the Kremlin to continue the START treaty, however, in his opinion, Washington has actually “destroyed” the legal framework in the field of arms control and security.
