One hundred women applied to the contest. The contest is resumed after a year of suspension, due to the pandemic.
“A social project without a name and without a photo”, that is how the ten candidates for the Queen of San Francisco de Quito 2021-2022 contest, which for the second time is assumed by the Reina de Quito Foundation.
The previous year, due to the pandemic, there was no election of the sovereign and the position was held for two consecutive years by Estefanía Barreno.
The presentation of the applicants was held on Tuesday night at the Terravalle tennis club, via Cumbayá.
María Teresa Donoso, vice president of the foundation and former queen of the capital, recalled that since 2019 they have held the election on their own, because former mayor Jorge Yunda decided not to organize the event from the Municipality.
For this reason, Donoso stressed that the contest is carried out with its own financing and with the support of private companies.
Before concluding the presentation of the candidates, Bedón expressed his support for the contest from the Municipality, indicating that they have decided to resume the approach with the foundation.
The candidates
Among more than 100 from Quito who applied to the contest, only ten girls were chosen. The organization pointed out that the proposal they presented to contribute to citizens was relevant.
Social aid will be the axis of the functions that the new sovereign will fulfill for a year. The winner will be chosen based on your proposal.
Ana Martina López Muñoz, psychology student, 19 years old.
His project is called Empoderando tu Sueño, it is aimed at teenage mothers between the ages of 15 and 19, to provide them with entrepreneurship training and psychological help in order to generate employment opportunities.
Dominique Quiroga Agila, graduate in Communication and Public Relations, 25 years old.
With its proposal, Alcanzando el Cambio, it seeks to generate alliances between the public, private and academic sectors to promote Quito entrepreneurship and the consumption of local products.

Estefanía Álvarez Gordillo, graduate in Communication and Public Relations, 24 years old.
His project will focus on women, which is why he baptized it with the name Juntas de la Mano por tu Futuro. He proposes that through technology and the use of digital platforms, Quito’s people can promote their businesses, he will work with trainings and talks in the neighborhoods.

Andrea Vásquez Rivera, architect, 25 years old.
His proposal is to work with six neighborhoods identified as vulnerable, to carry out fairs, mingas and trainings with the aim of improving the living conditions of their inhabitants. His project is called Barrios Vulnerables.

María Gabriela Gálvez Andrade, nutritionist, personal trainer and model, 24 years old.
The economic reactivation will be the axis of its initiative Let’s Start Together, with which it will offer training in entrepreneurship aimed at women between 18 and 30 years of age who have difficulties finding work.

Paula Carolina Dalmau Álvarez, restorer of cultural assets and dancer, 25 years old.
Unidos Reactivamos is the initiative. It is a trade fair in which it plans to bring together priority attention groups, private companies and the general public, in order to create a working community. Exhibitors will be able to demonstrate their talent.

Darlene Rodríguez Ortiz, architect, 24 years old.
Rescuing women from domestic violence is the objective of her initiative Woman, Reform your Being. The actions she plans to carry out are awareness talks in neighborhoods and training for entrepreneurship.

Nicole Valencia Cobos, graduate in Business Administration, 23 years old.
Its aim is to create a digital platform to publicize the gastronomic ventures of the capital and that they can even offer their products at home. The proposal is called Quito, Meet my Puestito.

Louiza Eid Vázquez, chemical engineer, 23 years old.
Through his idea, Knowledge is Power, he proposes to provide coaching motivation and training for women in vulnerable situations to promote their empowerment.

Doménica Alessi Vega, Law student, 19 years old.
He also wants to bet on digital platforms. His proposal is called Give me a Hand and will aim to promote the enterprises of Quito to expose them to private companies and the public sector and at the same time seek financing. (I)
