The little boy played happily with a ball in the offices of the National Directorate of Specialized Police for Boys, Girls and Adolescents (Dinapen), leaving behind the pain that had caused him earlier blows and kicks that his mother gave him in the street.
The situation was captured in a video that later went viral on social networks and that allowed the intervention of the Police, the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES), among other instances.

The event was repudiated on digital platforms, it caused outrage due to the level of aggression that the audiovisual reflected. It happened in the Quillán Loma sector, Izamba parish, in northern Ambato.
The authorities carried out the legal procedures until Monday afternoon and handed over the two-year-old to a maternal aunt, who was accompanied by other relatives who preferred not to speak to the media.
Colonel Marco Enríquez, chief of the Ambato Norte National Police district, explained that after learning of the video where the abuse of the child was evident, those who made the filming were located first.
Then, he said, uniformed personnel advanced to Quillán Loma Alto, San José de María neighborhood, locating the home and executing the apprehension of the alleged aggressor, as well as the recovery of the minor.
He assured that according to the medical evaluation of the child, it was verified that he did not have any serious problem as a result of the beatings, which in the flagrancy unit after the evaluation of the doctor gave him two days of disability.
For this reason, the mother would not have committed a crime but a violation, before which the competent authorities will have to determine the sanction, taking into account that she is pregnant.
He said that Dinapen personnel are working to find out the reasons why the mother attacked the child in this way. And she added that from the information collected so far the child has not previously been subjected to this type of situation.
Flor Peñaherrera, a member of the Cantonal Board for the Protection of Rights, commented that it is known that the maternal aunt is the one who would guarantee the care of the child.
He maintained that they will follow up on the case and that they consider that due to the situation of violence registered in the attack, it would not be opportune for the minor to return to the parent or to his circle of violence.
The provincial director of the Council of the Judiciary in Tungurahua, Cristian Navas, reported that the entity activated the protocols for these cases, that the flagrante delicto hearing against the mother will take place at 08:30 this Tuesday.

“We understand that the aggressor is pregnant and in this sense the competent authority will analyze the sanction that will be imposed in accordance with the law in the relevant case,” said Navas.
And he added that the law is clear in the sense that once the state of pregnancy passes and even three months after breastfeeding, the mother will be able to comply with the sanction issued by the competent judge. (YO)
