Drug collection, kidnappings and murders, crimes that disturbed the tranquility in certain private urbanizations

Those who have moved in recent years to urbanizations a bit far from the center of the cities say that they did it with a lot of effort, sacrifice in many cases, since they cover debts with high interest to acquire a house in these closed residential complexes, in which that safety is an important factor for them.

“Now that feeling of being protected has vanished, the bubble has burst,” says Noemí, who on Saturday was about to take her little son to the park in a development located on León Febres-Cordero avenue, Daule jurisdiction, where They murdered five people, including a 15-month-old baby, on Saturday, January 28.

The house where the victims were gathered is precisely in front of the park of the private complex.

“We thought they were hitting something against an iron door, it would never have occurred to us that there were 54 shots here inside the urbanization,” says the woman, still scared.

380,000 dollars in cash and three pairs of car license plates found in the house of a former police officer murdered in the Daule urbanization

Lorena, who lives near Noemí, says she is very worried and now looks at her neighbors with suspicion, because the Prosecutor’s Office raided not only the house where the murder took place, but also another house where they found $380,000 in cash, weapons, and license plates. and other suspicious items.

The owner of that raided house was Stuart Granados Vasco, an ex-policeman who is part of the fatalities of the armed attack.

It is presumed that he and Jose Soria Brionesthe owner of the house where the crime was perpetrated and who was also murdered belonged to a criminal gang and that the crime was committed by one of their associates.

The other two murdered were Joselito Cevallos Pazmino and Juan Burbano Carranza, active duty police officer. Only the latter did not have a criminal record, the other three victims did.

Lorena mentions that the house where the crime took place was for sale for a few months and that suddenly a buyer arrived who paid the $120,000 they asked for in cash and moved in a matter of days.

That was already very suspicious, comments the neighbor who believes that nobody controls those who buy or rent homes within the urbanizations.

A party in which the police, military and traffic agents participated took place in the urbanization hours before the murder of five people

Those who live in other residential complexes agree with that.

Carlos B., who lives in an urbanization of La Aurora, Daule parish, mentions that many residents are selling their houses not only because the bullets from the Penitentiary have fallen on their roofs but also because a couple of times they have raided homes in his stage.

The last case occurred on December 5, 2022 after a woman was riddled with bullets while driving on the perimeter road. The victim was a fitness model who lived in that urbanization.

Those who live on the road to the coast are also paying attention, because last year there was a protest by residents of an urbanization at km 23 after a woman rented her house so that a man indicted for drug trafficking could spend his house arrest there dictated by a judge.

Despite the fact that the inhabitants opposed it, the court order was complied with on the spot.

Likewise, there have also been several cases in which criminal organizations rent jointly private properties to use them as collection centers or to take kidnapping victims.

This complicates the work of investigators who have been forced to also rent residences within urbanizations to monitor antisocials.

That happened in February 2021 in a private citadel at km 13 of the road to Daule. A ton of cocaine was seized there after weeks of surveillance.

A month later, in an urbanization of the Narcisa de Jesús highway, in Guayaquil, a Chinese citizen was rescued who was kidnapped and for whom they demanded a ransom of half a million dollars.

In an urbanization of Manta, Manabí province, on December 30, 2022, a gang was also dismantled. 27 packages of marijuana were found in the house.

Leandro Norero, prosecuted for drug trafficking and money laundering, was also arrested inside a luxurious urbanization on the road to Samborondón, where the agents found seven million dollars in cash. (YO)
