This is the ID’s third attempt to establish a dialogue with the government after the fuel price freeze and tax reform
The Democratic Left, this November 9, will meet with the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, whose purpose is to ratify the dialogue and power from the National Assembly to work hand in hand with the Executive.
It was pointed out by the coordinator of the orange legislative bench, Alejandro Jaramillo, who said that at the meeting, scheduled for 6:00 p.m., they will talk about the tax issue contemplated in the urgent project of Development and Fiscal Sustainability, but they will also address the labor issue , educational and setting the price of fuels as a result of the freezing provided in Executive Decree 231.
This political party, together with Pachakutik, has had an agreement at the legislative level since last May, when they joined their votes with the National Agreement Bank to appoint Guadalupe Llori as president of the National Assembly.
Pachakutik and the ID maintain rapprochement with the Executive on tax reform
Jaramillo stated that the ID will propose a revision of the decree on fuels since Article 1 indicates a suspension in the increase in fuel prices when it has been said from the Government that there is a freeze; and that it will be requested that this freeze be carried out with the prices established until September 2021.
Regarding the report on Pandora Papers, Jaramillo said that it is not on the agenda; however, your political organization is open to addressing it. What is possible is a call for unity to all political sectors, the Executive and the assembly members, that this is not the time to increase chaos, because what people demand is employment, health, education and security, he replied.
In the labor field, the Democratic Left will announce the lines that must be observed regarding the reform that is announced by the Executive. That for the political organization on list 12 it is a red line that in the labor reform affects the rights of workers, it cannot be admitted that their rights are regressive or hiring on trial.
Johanna Moreira, also a member of the ID bench, commented that her bloc will announce its position on the tax reform and the budget proforma, to avoid budget cuts to universities and the health sector.
The representative of El Oro pointed out that in the tax reform the ID speaks of a contribution base higher than $ 3,500 per month, without taking into account the tenths, to avoid affecting the middle class. (I)
