PORTOVIEJO

This Tuesday, November 9, a total of 62 students from the Ciudad de Pedernales educational unit, from the canton of the same name, returned to their face-to-face classes, after activities were suspended on Monday due to suspicions that some of the directors of this campus were affected by COVID-19.

Faced with a query made by this newspaper, the zonal coordination 4 of the Ministry of Education indicated that classes had indeed been suspended because there was a suspicion of contagion in the directors, but that after taking tests and taking samples at the Pedernales hospital, none left positive for the virus.

It was also indicated that no student is infected.

In this campus 250 students are educated and of that group 62 had returned to classes a few days ago in a blended way.

While in the Víctor Manuel Peñaherrera educational unit, of the Veche Adentro commune, also in Pedernales, classes are kept suspended after a directive from that campus did test positive for COVID-19.

In this last campus, 674 students are educated, of which 166 returned to blended classes. As in the City of Pedernales, in this campus there have been no infections among students. (I)
