Casa Grande University reported on the launch of the third free virtual course on agroecological practices My Sustainable Farm (proyectolafuente.org/cursos) aimed at farmers, authorities, students and all people interested in more environmentally friendly agricultural management.
This occurs within the framework of the La Fuente Project: Protecting the Daule Basin, financed by the European Union and implemented by four partners: Universidad Casa Grande, FONDAGUA, CIIFEN and the Municipality of Guayaquil.
More than 4,000 people from Guayas and Manabí will benefit from the La Fuente project, which seeks to preserve the Daule river basin
This is one of the three virtual courses that the virtual educational platform of the La Fuente Project has, whose objective is to educate us about the economic, environmental, and health advantages that having sustainable agricultural practices facilitates us, through techniques and practical cases in the field. Those who successfully complete this online training will be awarded a certificate endorsed by Casa Grande.
This event was held within the framework of World Environmental Education Day, where more than 70 people participated in person and online, including farmers, authorities, teachers from agricultural colleges, representatives of universities in the Daule basin and the media.
“For Casa Grande University and the La Fuente Project, education is vital, but one that involves not only knowing, but doing. We know that this course is of great support for an agricultural development focused on the care of the water and land resources of the Daule basin, and on the growth of the farmers”, affirmed Jéssica Quintana, Director of Liaison with the Community of Big House University.

For the rest of the year, the project proposes to complement this action by continuing with training in the territory on agricultural inputs with natural ingredients, as well as the signing of conservation agreements with different groups and GADs, the installation of a community monitoring network for water resources , among other activities to be carried out.
So far, the platform has three courses, and until 2024 there will be more courses aimed at young people, boys and girls, among other target groups. (YO)
