The new head of Produce held the same position during the government of Martín Vizcarra. He will replace Sandra Belaunde, who resigned on Wednesday.
The president Dina Boluarte this Thursday he was sworn in to Raúl Pérez-Reyes Trejo as the new head of the Ministry of Production (Produce), replacing Sandra Belaunde who resigned from the portfolio last Wednesday.
Pérez-Reyes Espejo is an economist from the University of Lima, has a master’s degree in economics from the Center for Economic Research and Teaching in Mexico and a doctorate in economics from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Spain. In addition, he directed the aforementioned portfolio during the government of Martín Vizcarra, from April 30, 2018 to March 11, 2019.
He has also served as Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) and in the ESAN University. He also held management positions in the Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Energy and Mines (Osinergmin), the Commission for the Defense of Free Competition of Indecopi and in the Peruvian Postal Services company (Serpost).
The resignation of former Minister Belaunde
Former minister Sandra Belaunde presented her resignation letter to the President of the Council of Ministers, Alberto Otárola, on January 25, who thanked her for “the commitment and professionalism performed.”
The official remained in office for a little more than a month, after assuming the direction of Produce on December 10, 2021. With this resignation and subsequent swearing in of Pérez-Reyes, there are already six ministerial changes since the beginning of the Boluarte government .
