Higher energy waves are expected to arrive from January 27 to insular Ecuador

The Oceanographic and Antarctic Institute of the Navy (Inocar) announced that between January 25 and 26 waves of lower energy than those registered in recent weeks will arrive on the Ecuadorian coast since they come from the South Pacific.

Due to this, the state of the sea is expected to remain between light and moderate both in the continental and insular profiles.

The sea affects the San Jacinto boardwalk and COE de Sucre declares itself on maximum alert

This will change from January 27 when higher energy waves arrive from the Pacific Northwest and will affect the Insular region. At those times the sea condition will vary between moderate and slightly agitated.

“While the arrival of waves from the northwest persist with periods of high energy, caution is recommended along the entire coastline, since this condition will influence both the variability of coastal currents and the intensity of breaking waves,” he specified. the Inocar.

Several localities have been affected by the arrival of waves of great intensity. In San Jacinto, the force with which the waves broke caused the water to enter the boardwalk and several streets. This caused the Sucre cantonal Emergency Operations Committee (COE) to be declared on maximum alert.

Cojimíes and Salinas also recorded the entry of the sea to several nearby streets. (YO)
