The US has tried to pressure Turkey to stop flights of US-made aircraft owned by Russian airlines to and from Turkey. This is stated in an article in The Wall Street Journal.

The interlocutors of the publication said that in December 2022, high-ranking US officials warned of the consequences if Turkish structures provide services to Russian, as well as Belarusian, carriers. For this, they can face fines, loss of export privileges and even imprisonment.

The WSJ clarifies that such information was conveyed to the Turkish side by Assistant Minister of Commerce Thea Roseman Kendler. The department did not provide journalists with details, but noted that they were working with foreign airlines to monitor compliance with US-imposed restrictions on Russian, Belarusian and Iranian aircraft.

The publication recalls that since October 1, airlines from Russia have performed more than 2.1 thousand flights to Turkey on American Boeing.
