State of exception in Ecuador: 50,935 operations in which 1,131 people were arrested

A total of 1,131 people have been detained in Ecuador since last April 30, when the state of emergency decreed for the provinces of Esmeraldas, Guayas and Manabí came into force due to the high rates of violence, the Presidency reported this Saturday.

50,935 operations were carried out in which 1,131 people were arrested, he said without specifying the reasons for the arrests.

Also, he pointed out that Among the results of the operations, 160 vehicles and motorcycles were recovered, as well as the seizure of 143 firearms.

On April 29, the president of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, decreed a state of exception in the aforementioned three provinces on the coast of the country to combat organized crime, including a nightly curfew in three towns.
