They disappeared on January 3, 2023. On that date, Natalia contacted her father and her older sister, telling them that she was out for a walk with her daughter and Manolo A, the father of her little girl, just a year and a half old.
He had indicated that he was in Mindo, a town in the northwest of Pichincha. Since then they have not had any communication.
Andrés Ojeda, Natalia’s brother, pointed out that since January 5 they were concerned about hearing from them, since they had not communicated.

They were more struck by the fact that Natalia said that she was on a walk with her daughter’s father, with whom she was separated a year and a half ago, the same age as her baby.
María Belén Bernal asked for help ten times before she was murdered at the Police School
For them, one of the episodes of violence that Natalia had to go through was being produced again.
They remember that on several occasions they stopped receiving any news from Natalia, that they prevented her from having contact through messages or calls with friends and family. And she was ever found locked up at home by her partner.
She is the third of three siblings, she worked at the Northern Government Platform, but since the first days of January she has not shown up for work.
Faced with the disappearance, the Ojeda family decided to go look for Manolo’s father in Riobamba, Chimborazo province. There the father denied that they had traveled to Mindo, since he assured that on January 1, 2 and 3 the couple, together with the girl, remained at home.
Manolo’s father would also have told them that the couple left their home suddenly, that they left him a cell phone and a letter. What he did add was that his son told him that he was in trouble and that he needed money, so he lent her approximately $3,500.

The letter would be written by Natalia and in it she asks for forgiveness and assures that she is sorry for having made decisions that she never wanted, and that her life, that of her daughter and that of Manolo are at risk. That they believe in her, that everything is fine.
He also mentions a possible departure to Venezuela.
However, this letter does not match, according to his relatives. They maintain that she left her passport, her clothes and her daughter’s clothes, also that the graphology examination would indicate that it may have been written under duress.

Andrés Ojeda added that days ago he received a call from a woman, indicating that she had had an argument with Manolo and that she warned Natalia that she was in danger.
The phone that was left next to the letter had no chip or message record, it only had a call made at dawn.
As detailed by Andrés, they contacted the number of that call and found a taxi whose driver declared that he took them from Riobamba to Quito.
At the moment, these are the indications they have, meanwhile, the desire to find their loved ones alive becomes more difficult.
On January 13, the formal complaint for the disappearance of Natalia and her daughter was filed. They did it at the Prosecutor’s Office, because the regular time to denounce the Dinased had passed.
The Prosecutor’s Office, for its part, carried out a series of raids in the apartment where Manolo lived, in the office, and in his parents’ house.
The luminol tests would have yielded negative results, however, it is preliminarily known that there are several elements that remain in the investigation.
In addition to the strangulation, María Belén Bernal suffered a blow to the head and a fractured left leg
The Ojeda family has participated in a series of sit-ins and marches in search of an answer about the whereabouts of Natalia, her daughter and her ex-partner.
This Friday it is expected that they bet outside the Pichincha Prosecutor’s Office, starting at 4:00 p.m.
Until then, they indicated that they trust the work of tax agents, who are checking security cameras, bank movements, among other procedures. (YO)
