The Turkish authorities have tightened the rules for checking applications from foreigners for a tourist residence permit. Now such a residence permit card is not issued without proof of being in the country as a traveler, Haberturk TV channel reports, citing official sources.
Requests submitted inappropriately are rejected, the channel adds.
As noted, foreigners who come to Turkey to get an education, reunite with their families, conduct scientific research, start a business, or who own real estate must apply for the appropriate type of residence permit, accompanying it with the necessary documents.
“A tourist residence permit is not allowed for those foreigners who arrive in Turkey for the first time and apply, but do not have evidence that he is a tourist,” the channel emphasizes.
Russians rank first among foreigners in terms of the number of residence permits received in Turkey in 2022, according to data from the country’s migration department. According to the tourist residence permit, issued for a short period of up to a year, more than 133 thousand Russians are in the state, follows from the data of the department.
