The Social Security Institute (IESS) reported that a second batch of medicines is distributed to the dispensaries of the Rural Social Security (SSC).
These are drugs and biomaterials that are delivered to the seven areas where these health units are located.
The SSC is a special regime of Mandatory Universal Insurance, to protect the rural population and people dedicated to artisanal fishing.
Pedro Eguiguren, director of the SSC, reported that the amount allocated to the purchase of these inputs is around $21,000.
The items that are delivered are part of the Basic Table of Medications, within which are antibiotics, antihistamines, antiallergics, antihypertensives, among others.
This covers part of the most common diseases that affect the Ecuadorian population.
The IESS indicates that “for the delivery process, strict quality, safety and hygiene standards are met that guarantee the optimal conservation of the products, in addition, the development of a logistical, orderly and controlled distribution process.”
Irene Salazar, National Deputy Director of Management and Control of the SSC, ratified the commitment that this specialized insurance has with its affiliates. “We understand your needs, from day one we work for your benefit”, she affirmed.
For this year, the progressive and continuous distribution of medicines and supplies for the SSC dispensaries is expected, according to the IESS.
The 659 SSC dispensaries provided more than 3 million services during 2022.
Delivery is expected to reach all dispensaries, says Salazar. A first batch was already distributed on January 10 last.
The SSC is a specialized regime that covers people who live in the rural sector and who work in the fields (sowing and harvesting agricultural products and raising animals) and artisanal fishermen.
The number of beneficiaries is 1,003,186 and includes affiliates and their families.
Coverage includes health and economic benefits. The former consist of medical, gynecological and dental care. And the economic ones include the monthly payment of pensions for old age and disability and also the financing of funeral assistance.
SSC affiliates pay a monthly contribution of $2.63. With this they have retirement and health coverage. Beneficiaries of this last benefit are also the spouse or cohabitant with the right and their children and relatives who live under their dependency, accredited at the time of enrollment or at some other time prior to the application for the benefit, at least three (3) years in advance. 3 months.
Those who make up the affiliate’s dependent family group are only entitled to the health coverage detailed above, which is financed with the solidarity contributions of affiliates, private insurers and the State. This follows from the principle of solidarity that governs Ecuador’s social security. (YO)
