A new species of dwarf boa snake belonging to the family Tropidophiidae It was discovered in the northeast of Ecuador, in the provinces of Pastaza, Napo and Zamora Chinchipe.
The boa received the name of Tropidophis cacuangoae in honor of the Ecuadorian activist Dolores Cacuango, and was identified by researchers from the Amazon Regional University (Ikiam), the National Institute of Biodiversity (Inabio) of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition, Sumak Kawsay In Situ, Waska Amazon, Museum Koenig, Instituto Butantan and Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, who published an article in which they detail the probability that it is an endemic species of our country.

The new species, which could be diagnosed from its congeners based on external and osteological morphology, lives at the foot of eastern tropical mountains and in lower evergreen montane forests, in the Amazonian tropical forest ecosystems.
