For Tuesday, February 14, the trial hearing against four people for the death of a 7-month-old baby in Ibarra, Imbabura province, was postponed.

The trial for this case was scheduled for this Tuesday, January 24.
As reported by the State Attorney General’s Office, the request to defer the hearing was made by the defense of former police officer Luis L., one of those involved.

The former officer’s wife, Marisol G., Ufredo B. and José L., are also being prosecuted for this act. They are considered co-authors of the crime of killing the girl.
Katherine Cuasquer is the mother of the infant, named Zoe.
“I still remember the images of the day my daughter was murdered, when two hit men on a motorcycle approached and shot her in the right arm and went through her entire chest (…). Seeing him die in my arms is the cruelest thing,” the woman recalled at a press conference last week, in the presentation of figures for femicides that occurred in Ecuador in 2022.

The incident occurred in April of last year. She was his only daughter. The person responsible would have been the girl’s father.
Luis L. summoned her so that he could see the baby. She was his girlfriend before he married another couple.
Cuasquer hopes that the four involved will be given a maximum penalty.
“My daughter didn’t have to die like this; she had a life ahead of her and they turned it off, ”she expressed in the midst of her pain. (YO)
