The German defense concern Rheinmetall can send a total of 139 Leopard tanks to Ukraine. This was announced by a representative of the concern in an interview with the editorial association Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland.
“We have 22 Leopard 2A4 vehicles that we could prepare for operation and send to Ukraine,” said a representative of the concern. According to him, the repair of these machines will take almost a year.
“Delivery is possible in late 2023 – early 2024. There are 29 more Leopard 2A4s that will be ready for shipment as early as April-May 2023,” he said.
“We could make 88 more Leopard 1s available,” the concern added.
Earlier, the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, citing its own sources, reported that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was ready to allow the supply of Leopard 2 battle tanks to Kyiv, provided that the United States provided Ukraine with Abrams tanks.
In recent days, pressure on Berlin to transfer German tanks to Kyiv has increased significantly. Some countries, including Poland and Finland, have signaled their readiness to provide Leopard to Ukraine, but this requires the consent of Berlin.
