The National Police Anti-Narcotics Directorate managed to find three seizures of drugs in containers and ships that were about to be dispatched from Guayaquil seaports to different foreign destinations.
In the first operation, called Darkness, a container with tuna cans was found that was contaminated with drugs.
In it, thirteen jute bags were found, inside which 924 packages of cocaine were found. This load adds a weight of 928.071 grams.
According to police reports, that shipment was destined for Great Britain.
Likewise, the anti-narcotics agents with the support of trained dogs carried out another inspection in a banana container. In this container, twelve drug packages were detected, whose destination was Antwerp, Belgium. In total, the drug reached 11,940 grams.

Similarly, another 16 packages destined for Puerto Rico were detected on the deck of a ship that was docked in one of the ports of Guayaquil, detailed Colonel Fausto Miño, deputy chief of the National Police in zone 8.
The drug from this last operation reached 15,900 grams.
With these three interventions, a total of 955,931 grams of drugs were removed from the market, which is equivalent to some 9 million doses.
This merchandise could be quoted at 40 million dollars and 1.7 million dollars locally.
According to data from the Police, at the national level 5,486 tons of drugs have been seized and 653 detainees related to drug trafficking issues so far this year. Only in zone 8, made up of Guayaquil, Samborondón and Durán, there are 1,369 tons and 201 apprehended in the same period.
