Miniseries that is recorded on location in Ambato seeks to raise awareness about the problem of suicide

The figures for suicides in Tungurahua show that it is one of the most worrying problems. Between 2013 and so far in the first days of this 2023 there are already 614 autolytic cases.

2014 was the year in which the lowest number was registered, with 32, while the previous year there were 71 and this January there are already 4.

Álex Jácome, director and scriptwriter of the miniseries behind my truthcommented that different social issues will be addressed, such as suicide.

He made it known that telling a story about the suicide attack is not easy, but that the decision was made to do so in order to sensitize the public so that they become aware of the edges that must be taken into account to avoid it.

“It is known that Tungurahua has a very high level of suicides. For this reason, we think that, through the locations that were chosen in Ambato for filming, an alternative can be generated to call for the sensitivity of the population, ”he added.

The scriptwriter said that an analysis was carried out and it was found that people attempt against their lives not only because of depression problems. According to the investigation carried out, it was obtained as a result that the figures are high and alarming in Tungurahua, which have triggers in the problems of illness, family breakup, economic and couple situations, with a high percentage of young people. In young people, the cases are related to love disappointment.

So, he stressed that what is sought is to create sensitivity in society, because he is convinced that being empathetic can do a lot to save lives that suffer from depressive symptoms.

Jácome anticipated that the miniseries deals with different themes, such as abuse, human trafficking, harassment, lack of forgiveness and suicide.

Nine chapters were recorded in Quito and two in Guayaquil. The one that was made in Ambato will be released on February 9, starting at 7:00 p.m., at Cinemark as part of the programming of the Fruit and Flower Festival.

He explained that, knowing the importance of the issues that are addressed, it seeks to make alliances with the Ministry of Education in order to reach educational establishments so that students and teachers can talk and analyze, all with the aim of generating prevention , because the subject of suicide presents symptoms, and knowing them you can be vigilant to save many lives.
