German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock said that Poland would receive permission to supply German Leopard-2 tanks to Ukraine if it applied for it.

“No such request has been received. If he had entered, we would not have put up obstacles, ”Burbock said in an interview with the French television channel LCI.

In accordance with German law, countries that are armed with German-made weapons do not have the right to re-export them to the war zone without the consent of the German government.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Warsaw could simply ignore any German restrictions on the re-export of German-made tanks.

“Consent is a secondary issue. Either we get this consent, or we ourselves will do what needs to be done,” Morawiecki said.

At the same time, new German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said last week that it cannot be ruled out that Germany itself will deliver, or give permission to countries that have Leopard tanks in service, to re-export them to Ukraine.

However, as reported, Berlin has not yet decided on the supply of tanks and did not give permission for their re-export.
