The doctors at the Ambato Social Security Institute (IESS) hospital could do nothing to save the life of José Humberto Martínez Garzón, 33 years old.

The man was taken to this health facility at dawn on Friday the 20th, after receiving 15 stab wounds for resisting a robbery in the Cevallos canton, Tungurahua province.

According to preliminary information, Martínez had been drinking with a friend in that town when subjects approached them to rob them. At the time of resistance, the victim received stab wounds in different parts of the body.
The now deceased was in the intensive care unit of the hospital until his death on Saturday the 21st, at 5:30 p.m. The stab wounds were received in the thorax and lower limbs.

Criminalistics personnel arrived at the IESS hospital to remove the body and transfer it to the local forensic center.
