Petroperú: the first berth is made at the Port Terminal Dock of the New Talara Refinery

On Saturday, January 21, the first commercial berth was made in the Port Terminal Liquid Cargo Dock 2. This was built as part of the New Talara Refinery (NRT) and will fulfill the function of receiving and unloading products in ships of up to 52,000 tons in addition to the liquid cargo dock.

In that line, the tanker Esteem Discovery He was the one who arrived to unload low sulfur diesel at MU2.

This activity was possible after the publication, on January 9, 2023, of Directorial Resolution No. 012-23-MGP/DICAPI, in which the study of MU2 maneuvers was approved, which allows berthing to be carried out without inconvenience, stay and undocking of tankers.

Petroperú would operate more than 52% of the national crude

It should be noted that the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) has added the commitment that upon delivery of the New Talara Refinery (NRT) control of 100% of the Talara batches (52% of national production) will be returned to repower Petroperu and strengthen the country’s energy independence.

Thus, there are six batches whose contracts would expire between 2023 and 2028, with a joint yield of 21,294 barrels per day (bpd) to feed the NRT, each day closer to fully operating and balancing the competition against its main competitor, Repsol. In addition, it would add Lot I, already in the hands of the state.
