A man was arrested this Sunday the 22nd, in an operation carried out in the Camarones sector, E15 highway, north of Esmeraldas. The Police detected that in his possession he had 293 packages of substances subject to control.
The packages were found camouflaged in the trunk of a truck-type vehicle, whose driver tried to evade police control.

After being neutralized by several police units, it was detected that the shipment was positive for marijuana with a weight of 438,800 grams.

The man was placed under the orders of the judicial authority, revealed Joffre López, chief of tactical operations of the Esmeraldas Subzone Police.
The previous Thursday, the Esmeraldas Anti-Narcotics Police also apprehended five individuals when they were transporting 350 packages of marijuana.

The cargo was camouflaged in three high-end vehicles that were checked in a road police operation in San Mateo, on the E20 Esmeraldas – Quinindé road.
The drug would have come from somewhere on the northern border for internal distribution in the interior of the country.
Over the weekend, three citizens were apprehended with two firearms (a revolver and a domestically manufactured cartridge belt), 300 grams of marijuana and 200 grams of cocaine base.
The detainees would be members of a criminal group that operates in Esmeraldas. (YO)
